Now, 2008 promises to be an eventful year! Rehearsals for the Spring Term will commence on Wednesday 9th January 2008 at Carnarvon School, Nursery Road, Bingham from 7.15 – 9.30pm. We will be preparing an ambitious programme to sing with Mansfield Choral Society at Southwell Minster on Saturday 19th April at 7.30pm. To complete the evening, the orchestra and soloist will perform Elgar’s Cello Concerto.

A FUN WORKSHOP! - February 2006

Nearly 100 members and friends of Bingham and District Choral Society enjoyed a stimulating Singing Workshop on Saturday 18th February at East Bridgford Parish Church. They were very fortunate to obtain the services of Susan Hollingworth to lead this, the third, annual event. She is the busy Musical Director of several choirs, including the Grimsby Philharmonic, Scunthorpe Junior Choir, the National Youth Choir of Scotland and the Sine Nomine International Touring Choir.

Very soon, everyone was infected by Susan's energy and enthusiasm, whether beginners, experienced singers or those who rarely sing. The day started with exercises to encourage relaxation and then to improve posture and breathing. The music ranged from humorous to ethnic, gospel songs and a national spread from Finland to Africa, many with an infectious, lively swing.

The time passed all too quickly, with everyone concentrating and working hard throughout the four-hour workshop programme, with a welcome lunch break to re-charge the batteries at half-time. At the end, all felt the whole day had been fun and a lot of valuable lessons had been learnt. Plans are already afoot to organise a similar workshop next year. Watch this space for details of the next workshop event to be held in 2007.
